SummaryThe Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. The role requires knowledge of each product area or department in the store, and involves determining methods and approaches necessary to accomplish store goals and initiatives. The Manager in Training promotes each sale, supports the visual and customer service standards, and acts as an ambassador for Hibbett City Gear.
They provide customer service, sell merchandise, provide guidance to employees and customers, and maintain profitability of all departments.
- Assist the Store Manager in controlling store assets.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling.
- Assume responsibility for the whole store in the Manager’s absence.
- Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments.
- Monitor inventory, sales statistics and expenses to ensure profitability.
- Direct staff to ensure department responsibilities and standards are met.
- Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
- Maintain quality customer service in accordance with the customer service manual.
- Perform general administrative duties as needed, and be trained in Store Manager responsibilities.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett City Gear.
- Uphold all Hibbett City Gear policies, procedures, and standards.
- Protect company assets and financial information through accurate internal controls.
- Resolve problems and supervise employees when the Store Manager is absent.
- 1–3 years of customer service experience in a retail environment, preferably footwear or athletic apparel.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks independently.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks with precision.
- Team‑player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and merchandise sales.
