Geosyntec, an internationally known environmental engineering design firm, is seeking an Early-Career Environmental Engineer or Scientist to join our contaminated sediment site assessment and remediation practice in the Pennington, New Jersey or Brooklyn, New York office. The role will allow you to apply your academic knowledge and practical experience to real‑world contaminated sediment projects, while building project coordination and management skills and gaining exposure to field activities that support remediation projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in coordination and management of large-scale sediment remediation projects, including project budget tracking, report preparation, meeting coordination, and other project management administrative tasks.
- Fieldwork such as surface sediment sampling, sediment coring, passive porewater sampling, surface water sampling, soil, and groundwater sampling; driller and contractor oversight; construction quality assurance and oversight; and remediation system O&M.
- Evaluate chemical data and contaminant fate & transport.
- Analyze data, reviewing historical documents and preparing maps, tables, and figures.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to develop strategies for complex problems.
- Accept instruction from many team members to accomplish project objectives.
- Coordinate with various entities including client contacts, subcontractors, and regulatory agencies.
- Prepare technical reports, letters, memoranda, plans, specifications, and proposals.
- Commit to Geosyntec’s culture of health & safety.
- Maintain required health & safety training: OSHA, first aid, CPR, and medical monitoring; participate in professional development opportunities including seminars, webinars, and mentoring.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, biochemistry, earth science (geology or hydrology), environmental, civil, or chemical engineering. (Required)
- Prior research experience in contaminated media or remediation technology. (Preferred)
- Prior internship experience in environmental consulting. (Preferred)
- Ability to learn new tasks quickly while being receptive to coaching and teaching, working collaboratively as part of a team. (Required)
- Ability to digest and summarize technical language from white papers, reports, or regulatory documents. (Required)
- Technical experience in engineering, geology, geotechnical, environmental, or related disciplines. (Preferred)
- Relevant field experience, e.g., sediment sampling, porewater sampling, observation of well installation, soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and/or other field techniques. (Preferred)
- Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, related software, and GIS. (Preferred)
- Regular fieldwork and overnight travel. (Required)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (Required)
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (Required)
- Minimum Salary: $59,375/year / Maximum Salary: $92,350/year (Pennington, NJ)
- Minimum Salary: $62,070/year / Maximum Salary: $96,545/year (Brooklyn, NY)
