Requirements
  • Applicant must possess a valid New Jersey Teacher of Social Studies certificate.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of subject specialty and effective teaching methods.
  • Thorough knowledge of New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
  • Thorough knowledge and familiarity with instructional technologies.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, secure and caring learning environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate with parents/guardians.
  • Successfully undergo a criminal history check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  • Meets the health qualifications required of all personnel.
  • Meets NJ residency requirements or willingness to relocate to NJ within 365 days of employment.
  • Must follow the guidelines of the Camden County Technical Schools’ Nepotism Policy, File Code: 0142.1.

Salary: According to the Board of Education of the Camden County Technical Schools and Cam/Voc Education Association Agreement Salary Guide – $58,656-$92,982.

Position Goals

To teach the New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards and/or Industry Standards through the district curriculum and establish a class environment that fosters learning and personal growth; to help students develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed for continued education; and to maintain good relationships with parents/guardians and staff members.

Reports To: Supervisor assigned per the CCTS’ Organizational Chart.

Performance Responsibilities
  • Select a variety of relevant materials, resources, and technologies that support instructional goals and student learning.
  • Lesson plans are available during observation and meet school and district standards for format, differentiation, clear expectations, and rigor.
  • Planning reflects connections to New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards or Career Competencies and Camden County Technical Schools' curriculum.
  • Planning recognizes and builds on prerequisite skills for new learning; cross-content connections deepen students’ knowledge.
  • Modify and adjust instructional plans and goals according to student achievement measured by ongoing assessments.
  • Use Individualized Education Program (IEP) where prescribed to meet classified students’ needs.
  • All goals are clear, communicated as student learning outcomes, and measured by ongoing assessments.
  • Maintain positive verbal and non-verbal communication, encouragement, smiles, tone, and positive interaction.
  • Organize tasks so student groups work independently or are productively engaged at all times.
  • Prepare students to take responsibility for handling materials and supplies, maximizing instructional time; routines are seamless.
  • Inclusion teachers and technicians contribute to planning, organization, and operation of the learning environment.
  • Consistently demonstrate thorough understanding of content specific instructional practices.
  • Directions to students are clear; teacher expectations define expected learning.
  • Use effective questioning strategies; encourage students to engage in active reasoning and develop self-generated questions.
