Cast House Helper

The Cast House Helper supports safe and efficient operations in a high-temperature aluminum casting environment. This role focuses on handling aluminum products after extrusion, tending production lines, racking and packing materials, and moving bins using a forklift while following strict safety and quality standards. The position reports to the Cast House Supervisor and plays a key role in maintaining continuous production in a fast-paced manufacturing facility.

SHIFT: 6pm to 6am - 4 days ON - 4 days OFF

(will train on 1st. shift 6am to 6pm for 2-3 weeks)

Responsibilities
  • Handle aluminum products safely and efficiently after extrusion, ensuring they move through the production process without damage.
  • Tend production lines by monitoring flow, adjusting materials, and supporting machine operators as needed.
  • Rack and pack aluminum products according to specifications, ensuring accurate counts and proper placement for further processing or shipment.
  • Operate material handling equipment, including forklifts, to move bins and materials throughout the cast house and plant.
  • Use a tape measure to verify product dimensions and confirm they meet required specifications.
  • Perform general labor duties such as lifting, carrying, and positioning heavy materials in a physically demanding environment.
  • Assist with machine operation and basic setup tasks under the guidance of more experienced operators.
  • Use hand tools safely to support production, maintenance, and packing activities.
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment while working in high-heat and high-noise areas.
  • Support cleanliness and organization of the cast house and surrounding work areas to maintain a safe and efficient workplace.
  • Participate in training to develop skills for potential advancement into crane, saw, or higher-level operator roles.
  • Work overtime as needed, including additional days or extended shifts, to support 24/7 plant operations.
Essential Skills
  • Manufacturing or production experience with experience working in an industrial environment.
  • Prior laborer experience and the ability to perform physically demanding, heavy labor tasks on a regular basis.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for verifying product dimensions.
  • Comfort working in a hot environment with exposure to furnaces and elevated temperatures.
  • Willingness to work a 12-hour rotating schedule, including permanent night shift hours from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM after training.
  • Reliability and strong work ethic, including consistent attendance and commitment to learning on the job.
  • Ability to work safely in high-noise, high-heat, and unregulated plant conditions while following safety protocols.
  • Capability to use basic hand tools and support machine operation under supervision.

  • Experience in industrial manufacturing environments similar to large-scale building materials or metals facilities.
  • Interest in training for crane, saw, or higher-level operator roles as skills and experience grow.
  • Openness to working in a 24/7 production operation with frequent overtime opportunities.
  • Ability to adapt to changing shifts during initial training, including temporary day shift work from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
  • Comfort working in a team-oriented environment with a strong focus on safety and continuous improvement.
