This employee is responsible for coordination of total resident care and performs supervisory and professional work directing and coordinating all nursing units. Advanced training and broad nursing experience, including supervisory duties, are required. The role requires administrative ability, knowledge of training techniques, and the exercise of initiative and good judgment, carried out in accordance with professional nursing practices, facility policies, and State and Federal regulations.
Responsibilities- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with current registration with the State board of nurse examiners.
- Experience in the nursing field.
- Supervisory experience in long-term care is required.
- Thorough knowledge of nursing theory, techniques, and practices.
- Thorough knowledge of specialized procedures and equipment used in the assigned area.
- Knowledge of dietetic, sanitation, and personal hygiene.
- Knowledge of medications, their proper dosage, and expected results.
- Skill in handling and manipulating instruments and equipment.
- Ability to coordinate and supervise nursing functions effectively.
- Empathetic attitude toward residents, gaining their confidence for effective work.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions of a technical nature.
- Ability to recognize symptoms and make decisions quickly in emergencies.
- Ability to train subordinates in work procedures and organize staff training.
- Ability to positively interact with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public.
- Requirement to provide annual verification of a negative TB skin test.
- Interacts with residents, families, visitors, and employees.
- Carrying out other tasks as requested where hands-on intervention or participation may be required.
Compliance with federal and state regulations is required.
