Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a leading employer in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records, preparing routine accounting activity, and contributing to a dependable month-end close process. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical skills, comfort working with financial systems and spreadsheets, and a commitment to accuracy in a collaborative setting.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate and timely financial records.

- Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure balances are properly supported.

- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities by organizing financial data and completing required account analysis.

- Review accounting transactions for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal financial procedures.

- Use Microsoft Excel to analyze account activity, build supporting schedules, and prepare recurring reports.

- Collaborate with internal departments to gather documentation, resolve accounting questions, and support financial reporting needs.
