Job Description

SUMMARY: The accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, monitoring company transactions, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies. This position supports the overall financial health of the organization through timely reporting, account reconciliation, budgeting assistance, and analysis of financial data.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports
  • Process and review accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Perform bank, credit card, and other account reconciliations
  • Monitor cash flow and assist with financial forecasting
  • Prepare and submit sales tax filings and other required tax reports
  • Support annual audits and provide requested documentation to auditors
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations
  • Analyze financial data and identify trends, discrepancies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets
  • Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
  • Prepare journal entries and adjusting entries as necessary
  • Support management with financial reporting and special projects
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial and employee information
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to analyze financial information and prepare accurate reports
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with management and staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS
  • Criminal background check required for hire
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Ability to multi-task
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and account reconciliations
  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or multi-entity accounting environments is preferred
