Job Description
- This position is responsible to perform accounting duties, including transactions, analysis, projections, and forecasts in support of the general ledger.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for accounting functions in support of general ledger functions.
- Record daily banking transactions for all bank accounts.
- Assist with coordination of College banking services and credit card services with various banking agencies.
- Maintain intercompany transactions and balance interfunds to the general ledger.
- Reconciling daily cash receipts with accounts receivable overall cash receipts and verify accounts receivable postings are finalized within the general ledger.
- Record and verify financial aid postings in the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank account statements to the general ledger.
- Review general ledger account balances and transactions to verify accuracy and record adjusting entries.
- Working with accounts receivable to help project cash flow from revenue sources, be the liaison with accounts receivable in respect to payments received, details of who the students are to receive the funds etc…
- Calculating and journaling chargebacks to departments for items such as supplies, copier charges etc…
- Verify catering chargebacks. Invoice clients for internal and external events.
- PCard (Purchase Card) management, reconciliation and journaling to the proper general ledger codes. This provides support to others in the college in this capacity as well as recording the charges.
- Complete additional general accounting support duties such as monthly loan reconciliations and inventory functions.
- Provide information and assistance to auditors.
- Record all journal entries monthly and prepare the general ledger for the Assistant Controller to process the close.
- Maintain knowledge of accounting related federal, state, and other awarding agencies rules, regulations, guidelines, and other procedures.
- Cross train on accounts receivable and grants staff accountant positions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of professional office skills and procedures required.
- Knowledge of standard accounting principles and practices, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
- Proficient verbal and written communications.
- Read, comprehend and follow instructions/work orders.
- Meticulous recordkeeping skills.
- Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments, including managing multiple projects/tasks concurrently and meet varied deadlines.
- Ability to identify problems, make corrective recommendations and assist with the problem-solving process.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting or a related field required. Two (2) years of accounting work experience required. Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards. PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Record Check Clearance, and FBI Federal Criminal History Record Clearance are required.
