Job DescriptionThe role is a full‑time, 10‑month position providing administrative and clerical support to the Assistant Principal at Doe Run Elementary for the 2026‑2027 school year. The Assistant will facilitate student‑related communications, documentation, and logistics in support of discipline, scheduling, testing, and special events. Responsibilities include both shared duties across the district and activities specific to the elementary level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Provides clerical and administrative support to the Assistant Principal.
- Responsible for building usage and scheduling appointments.
- Assists in the processing and distribution of student disciplinary documentation.
- Maintains accurate and confidential student records and files.
- Answers phones and interacts with students, parents, staff, and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- Prepares correspondence and reports related to student behavior, attendance, and other assistant principal initiatives.
- Assists with standardized test coordination, logistics, and communications.
- Provides event coordination and logistical support for school‑wide activities and programs.
- Supports the Assistant Principal in managing school communications.
- Develops and maintains a standard operating procedure manual for the position.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Principal, Principal, or the administrative assistant to the principal.
- Maintains effective working relationships with staff, students, families, and administrators with a focus on professionalism and confidentiality.
Elementary School
- Supports behavioral interventions and student management programs.
- Tracks student behavior referrals and parent communication logs.
- Assists in organizing school‑wide PBIS or student recognition initiatives.
- Provides administrative assistance for elementary‑specific field trips and assemblies.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One to three years of administrative or clerical experience in an office or school setting.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional software.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to manage confidential and sensitive matters with discretion.
- Solid organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to handle emergency and crisis situations calmly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional, courteous, and solution‑oriented demeanor.
Physical:
Sit 90%, walk/stand 10% (bending, kneeling, climbing), lifting some light lifting. Vision/Hearing: normal. Mental: analytical, organizational, problem‑solving, and communication skills. Environment: normal office and school environment.
Performance will be evaluated annually by the Assistant Principal.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTFull‑time, 10‑month position.
Hours:
7 a.m. – 3 p.m. (1‑hour unpaid break). Benefit‑eligible.
