High School Administrative Support Secretary (180-Days)
Job OverviewThe High School Administrative Support Secretary (180-days) is responsible for providing essential support to Cougar Academy (CA) students and maintaining a positive and safe school environment. This position will involve updating student grades, communicating with CA students regarding progress, monitoring various areas within the building, and providing administrative assistance to the Palmyra Area High School (PAHS) Office. The ideal candidate will be proactive, have excellent communication skills, be able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and have a strong sense of safety responsibility.
Responsibilities- Regularly update and maintain grades for all PAHS students within the CA program.
- Send reminder emails to all CA students regarding upcoming assignments and academic progress.
- Communicate with CA students about their progress, offering reminders or additional support where needed.
- Additional duties as assigned by the CA Supervisor.
- Coverage for Rear Atrium Door
- Provide supervision and support during class changes by monitoring the rear atrium door.
- Ensure safe and orderly entry and exit of students from the rear atrium during these transitions.
- Building Monitoring
- Walk the building during class transitions and breaks to monitor student behavior and ensure a safe environment.
- Oversee restroom usage to ensure students are adhering to school policies.
- Duties as assigned by the building principal.
- Administrative Support to PAHS Office
- Provide assistance to the high school office or student services with various administrative tasks, including mailings and organization of materials.
- Support the school's daily operations with other duties as assigned.
- Lunch Monitoring
- Supervise students during lunch periods to ensure proper behavior.
- Monitor restroom usage during lunch and ensure that students are following policies, including restricting the use of cell phones in restrooms.
- Library Support
- Assist with check-in and check-out of books and technology.
- Assist with shelving books as needed.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience working with children in an educational setting.
- Must comply with the requirements of the Pennsylvania School Code.
- Some college coursework or relevant experience is preferred.
- Proficiency in current technology, communication tools, and software applications.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond quickly to changing priorities.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in working with students.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
- Working hours:
7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, every school day in session. - Minimum starting rate: $17.26 - $21.32 per hour – credit will be given for relevant experience.
- No district paid health benefits; coverage available for purchase at 100% employee cost.
- A $500 healthcare stipend is provided annually in June.
