Patient Health Innovation (PHI) – Insights & Capabilities
Role purpose:
Support evaluation methodology for patient programs and digital health tools, helping define study design, measurement strategy, vendor questions, evaluation frameworks, and patient outcome measurement approaches.
Qualification and experience needed:
Bachelor's/Master's degree in public health. 4-6 years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in digital program measurement and evaluation with demonstrated fluency in pharmaceutical media approaches, particularly across vendor-supported programs that engage HCP-to-patient and direct-to-patient audiences. Candidates should have experience designing and applying measurement strategies that assess program performance across business, customer, patient, and channel dimensions to include defining KPIs, baseline measures, targets, test-and-learn approaches, and performance monitoring plans that guide optimization over time.
A strong background in health equity and the drivers of disparities is highly desired.
Must-haves:
- Evaluation science background
- Study design experience
- Understanding of control/intervention groups
- Ability to identify and address bias in study designs
- Experience with patient outcomes, patient behavior measurement, or healthcare program evaluation
- Comfort with healthcare data types, such as: claims data, EHR data, real-world evidence data, vendor-provided or unstructured data
- Cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder management
- Ability to translate complex data/methodology for non-data stakeholders
- Project coordination / project management skills
- Confidence to speak up in vendor or stakeholder meetings
Preferred / Nice-to-haves:
- Public health background
- Pharmaceutical or healthcare industry experience
- Real-world evidence experience
- Familiarity with patient engagement programs or digital patient support tools
They will demonstrate:
- A commitment to advancing PHI's vision of closing gaps in care
- A growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit, with comfort operating in ambiguity
- The ability to influence across teams and integrate insights into clear, actionable narratives
- Ability to translate business questions and patient-focused objectives into program measurement strategies, KPIs, dashboards, and actionable analytic plans
- Strong background in digital program measurement, with fluency in pharmaceutical media approaches and experience evaluating vendor-supported programs across HCP-to-patient and direct-to-patient models, including the ability to connect channel performance, engagement metrics, and campaign insights to broader business and patient impact
- Experience applying performance measurement frameworks to assess initiative effectiveness, including baseline development, target setting, trend monitoring, and performance interpretation
- Experience supporting test-and-learn measurement approaches, including test/control design, impact assessment, and readout development to inform optimization and future investment decisions
- Demonstrated ability to consult with stakeholders across a complex, matrixed environment and convert analytic findings into clear recommendations for action
Day-to-day responsibilities:
- Meeting-heavy role with independent deliverable work
- Join or manage contracting/team stand-ups
- Work with project leads, vendors, analytics teams, and internal stakeholders
- Support evaluation methodology, measurement plans, and study design discussions
- Help translate technical methodology into clear guidance for non-data teams
- Work with up to ~10 stakeholders, including internal team members, project leads, vendors, and analytics partners
Red flags:
- Too narrowly focused on programming only
- Market research-only background without evaluation science
- Epidemiology background limited mainly to community/public health without relevant pharma, healthcare data, or evaluation methodology experience
- Lacks confidence to speak up or challenge/advise in meetings
