Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) as a Facility Safety Manager and bring your expertise to a role that drives safety, preparedness, and high standards at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) s position places you at the center of critical fire safety programs, sanitation efforts, inspections, and emergency response planning. Your leadership will help safeguard staff, inmates, and facility operations by ensuring that every system runs with precision.

This position ensures the safety, health, and environmental standards of SCI Dallas through inspections, training, documentation, and emergency preparedness. It combines planning, coordination, and hands‑on oversight to maintain compliance and safeguard the facility. As a Facility Safety Manager, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Reporting:Complete weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual inspection reports
  • Fire Drill Management:Conduct fire drills, maintain schedules, and track accreditation records
  • Sanitation Oversight:Coordinate programs for housekeeping, sanitation, and pest control
  • Record Maintenance:Maintain logs for inspections, fire equipment, instructions, and emergency drills
  • Right-To-Know Program:Manage Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) files, product inventories, labeling, and required notifications
  • Water System Monitoring:Maintain water distribution logs, hydrant data, and sprinkler testing compliance
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $60,538.00 (before taxes).

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
  • One year of professional experience in an organized accident prevention, fire prevention, environmental safety, or security program, and a bachelor’s degree;
    or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements :
  • You must obtain Advanced Safety Certification from the National Safety Council within five years.
  • You must obtain and maintain a Radiological Safety Officer Certification upon hire.
  • You must obtain and maintain a Lead Renovator Certification upon hire.
  • You must obtain and maintain an Asbestos Supervisor and Building Inspector Certification upon hire.
Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
  • You must be a trained firefighter.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
  • You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
