About the RoleThis is a Traveling Superintendent Role. A Superintendent's primary responsibility is to ensure, in collaboration with the Project Manager, the successful completion of assigned projects. The Superintendent is the on-site lead responsible for project safety, quality, and schedule and is the primary interface with the design team and Owner throughout construction. The position reports to the General Superintendent.
Responsibilities- Manage project safety, quality, and schedule for all assigned projects from kickoff to closeout.
- Ensure Peterson standards of quality and safety are adhered to by the entire construction team.
- Mentor and develop other Peterson team members while effectively managing the overall projects.
- Work collaboratively with the Project Manager, project team members and subcontractors.
- Represent Peterson in a professional manner with integrity, focusing on doing the right thing.
- Must provide adequate transportation to and from job sites while maintaining acceptable driving record set by the Peterson Companies insurance carrier.
- Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with clients, project team, consultants/architects/engineers, and subcontractor, adjacent community, and governmental agencies.
- Responsible for project set-up, project site logistics, field coordination, and project schedule.
- Review all project documents for constructability and content, including shop drawings.
- Maintain and update project records including RFI’s, ASI’s and as-builts.
- Supervise and coordinate all subcontractors and client contractors.
- Create and enforce a site specific safety plan for assigned projects in collaboration with the Safety Manager.
- Coordinate building inspections, subcontractors inspections, and third party inspections.
- Perform daily site walks and submit daily reports and progress photos.
- Conduct subcontractor meetings, pre-task meetings, safety meetings, high hazard meetings, and OAC meetings in conjunction with the Project Manager.
- Utilize all company Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Use project management and scheduling software effectively.
- Attend company events including meetings, training and workshops, etc.
- Other related duties as assigned or needed.
This position is expected to have familiarity with all phases of a project lifecycle; in essence, a Superintendent can deliver a project with minimal dependence on the rest of the Peterson team.
QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience as superintendent or equivalent role, in the commercial construction industry and must be 30hr OSHA certified. Superintendent candidates must have a solid understanding of the commercial construction industry, site safety requirements, planning, scheduling, building trade sequence of work, and relevant technology. Key components are leadership, initiative, communication, teamwork, managing for results, and coaching & mentoring. Must be able to manage all types of projects, public, warehouse, commercial, tenant improvement, build to suits, ground up, and infrastructure.
