C. Deck & Sons, a division of The H&K Group, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Milling Machine Operator to become a part of our team. This position entails the operation of asphalt milling equipment in order to achieve daily production goals on road construction projects. - Performs all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies
- Operates the milling machine on road construction projects
- May perform other related duties such as shovel work, setting string line, adding or removing screed extensions
- Ensures equipment is safely and securely parked and stored
- Maintains equipment by greasing properly and checking fluids daily (oils, coolant, fuel level) and keeping clean and free of debris
- Performs daily checks on equipment to ensure proper operating condition
- Notifies shop foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairs
- Other duties as assigned
Required Skills, Education, and Experience
- 2 years of experience with milling machines on highway road construction projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read and interpret safety signs, manuals, and documents relevant to the job and equipment in use
- Ability to convey safety and operational information with supervisor and crew
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience
- 4+ years of experience with milling machines on highway road construction projects
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and be able to lift up to 75 lbs. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
