Position Overview
Construction Inspector positions in STV’s Transportation group located throughout Pennsylvania, including offices in Douglassville, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, and project sites in the Lehigh Valley, Northeastern PA, and Philadelphia regions.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise construction inspection activities on PennDOT and PA Turnpike highway and bridge projects, ensuring compliance with specifications, standards, and project management software.
- Prepare, review, and edit written inspection reports, including quantity calculations, materials testing, and cost documentation.
- Maintain a physical presence on project sites to monitor progress, resolve issues, and keep projects on schedule and within budget.
- Provide guidance to inspection staff and advise project team on contractor procedures, materials, and work product for conformance to plans.
- Assist clients and construction management in documenting project activities, tracking payments, and reviewing change orders.
- Adhere to safety regulations, traffic control protocols, and environmental rules, and support staff in meeting those requirements.
- Support close‑out tasks including punch list completion, quantity reconciliation, permit closeouts, and final certifications.
- 4–8years of highway and/or bridge construction inspection experience, including 1–2years of supervisory experience.
- NICET LevelIII in Highway Construction (preferred) or an active Professional Engineering license.
- Strong combination of NICET Highway, ACI/PennDOT Concrete, NECEPT Asphalt, Traffic Control, Guide Rail, Stormwater Management, and OSHA Construction Safety certifications.
- Proficiency with PennDOT’s ECMS and i‑Pad electronic documentation applications; knowledge of PPCC (PennDOT) and/or Kahua (PTC) project management software is a plus.
- Solid understanding of PennDOT and PA Turnpike construction specifications, standards, materials, and work methods.
- Computer skills including MS Excel, Word, Outlook, and PDF tools (Adobe or Blue Beam).
- Math skills for linear, area, and volume calculations required for measurement and payment units.
- Effective written and verbal communication and supervisory skills to keep projects and stakeholders informed and to resolve construction issues promptly.
- Valid driver’s license, ownership of a vehicle, and ability to operate a vehicle within construction zones.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed and to attend training sessions for additional certifications.
- Ability to advise on federal, state, and local environmental regulations and to support documentation and resolution of permit requirements.
- Commitment to working safely in accordance with OSHA and company guidelines.
Salary range: $70,564.00 – $80,187.00 per year (based on geography, experience, and certifications).
