Lead Superintendent - Mission Critical

The Superintendent IV is a senior field leadership role at CRB responsible for the overall on-site execution of large-scale data center construction projects. This position provides direct leadership of all field operations, ensuring construction is executed safely, on schedule, within quality standards, and in alignment with contract requirements. The Superintendent IV leads major project scopes or entire projects, overseeing multiple superintendents, trade partners, and field teams.

The role requires deep experience in mission-critical environments, including complex MEP infrastructure, commissioning processes, and fast-track schedules.

Responsibilities

Field Leadership and Site Management

  • Lead and manage all on-site construction activities from mobilization through commissioning and turnover
  • Serve as the primary field authority, coordinating all trades, subcontractors, and site personnel
  • Supervise and mentor Assistant Superintendents, Field Engineers, and trade foremen
  • Drive a high-performance, accountable field culture focused on safety, quality, and productivity

Safety Leadership

  • Own and enforce jobsite safety programs and OSHA compliance
  • Conduct safety meetings, audits, and site inspections to ensure a zero-incident culture
  • Identify and correct unsafe conditions and behaviors in real time

Schedule and Production Management

  • Develop, manage, and maintain: master construction schedule (CPM) and short-term look-ahead schedules (3–6 week plans)
  • Coordinate sequencing of all trades and activities to meet critical milestones
  • Implement recovery plans when schedule deviations occur
  • Monitor manpower, productivity, and workflow efficiency

Trade and Subcontractor Coordination

  • Coordinate and manage multiple subcontractors across all disciplines (civil, structural, architectural, MEP, IT)
  • Lead daily coordination meetings and weekly subcontractor meetings
  • Ensure subcontractors execute work in accordance with contract documents, scope requirements, project schedule and milestones
  • Resolve field conflicts, design issues, and sequencing challenges

Quality Control and Compliance

  • Ensure all work meets design specifications and drawings, building codes and regulatory requirements, data center performance standards
  • Perform inspections, punch list management, and quality audits
  • Review RFIs, submittals, and shop drawings for constructability

Technical Execution – Data Center Systems

  • Oversee installation and integration of critical infrastructure systems, including electrical (switch gear, UPS, generators), mechanical (cooling plants, CRAC/CRAH units), low-voltage and structured cabling systems
  • Ensure coordination between MEP, structural, and architectural scopes
  • Support commissioning, integrated systems testing (IST), and turnover

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and timely daily logs, reports, and site documentation
  • Track progress and milestones, manpower and production, safety observations and incidents
  • Communicate project status, risks, and constraints to project leadership

Logistics and Site Planning

  • Develop and manage site logistics plans, laydown areas, and material flow
  • Coordinate equipment delivery, crane picks, and major installations
  • Manage jobsite conditions, housekeeping, and staging

Risk Management and Problem Solving

  • Identify and mitigate field-related risks impacting schedule, safety, and quality
  • Proactively resolve constructability issues, trade conflicts, and design gaps
  • Escalate critical issues to project leadership when necessary

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Interface with project managers, engineers and design teams, inspectors and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs)
  • Participate in owner/consultant meetings and provide field updates
Qualifications
  • 10–15+ years of construction experience
  • 5–10+ years as a Superintendent on large-scale commercial or industrial projects
  • Proven experience delivering data center, mission-critical, or highly technical projects
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field (preferred)
