Senior Construction / Industrial Safety Manager in Blairsville, PA (Construction, Energy, Pipeline, Industrial Projects) Rate: $55/hr. – $65/hr contract role On-site (travel required)
We are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Manager/Safety Lead to provide hands-on safety leadership across complex construction, industrial, pipeline, and energy projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned safety professional who is equally comfortable in the field and at the leadership table—someone who partners with operations, drives accountability, and serves as a trusted safety advisor to both craft and management teams.
This position requires deep regulatory knowledge, a strong field presence, and the ability to implement practical, real-world safety solutions in high-risk environments.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Provide onsite safety leadership for large-scale construction, industrial, pipeline, and energy projects
- Develop, implement, and manage site-specific safety programs, plans, and procedures
- Conduct daily field audits, inspections, and hazard assessments (confined space, excavation, lifting, hot work, LOTO, etc.)
- Lead and document incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective actions
- Serve as the primary safety liaison with clients, subcontractors, and project leadership
- Oversee and issue work permits (hot work, confined space, critical lifts, PJHAs, JSAs)
- Facilitate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and formal training sessions
- Support emergency response activities, including ICS roles when applicable
- Mentor field personnel and reinforce a proactive, accountable safety culture
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, DOT, EM 385-1-1, MSHA, and client-specific requirements
- Maintain accurate safety documentation, reporting, and regulatory records
What We're Looking For:
- 15+ years of progressive safety experience in construction, industrial, energy, or pipeline environments
- Proven success supporting high-hazard work scopes including excavation, confined space, lifting, commissioning, shutdowns, civil work, demolition, and industrial installations
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 & 1910, Confined Space, Excavation/Trenching, Cranes & Rigging, and work permitting systems and hazard mitigation
- Demonstrated ability to lead in the field, influence operations, and communicate effectively at all levels
- Experience working directly with clients and maintaining strong professional relationships
- Willingness to travel and work on active job sites for extended project durations
Preferred Certifications (One or More):
- CHST or CSP
- OSHA 500 / 510 / 511
- EM 385-1-1
- MSHA (where applicable)
- TapRooT or similar root cause analysis training
- ICS 100–400 / Emergency Response experience
- CPR / First Aid / AED
- TWIC (preferred for certain sites)
The Intangibles That Matter:
- A respected field presence—someone crews listen to
- Practical, solutions-driven mindset (not "policy for policy's sake")
- Calm, confident decision-maker in high-pressure environments
- Strong communicator who balances enforcement with collaboration
- A professional who treats safety as a core operational function, not a checkbox
Why This Role:
- Long-term, repeat-client project opportunities
- Ability to make a real impact on jobsite safety culture and performance
- Support from a team that values experienced, field-driven safety leadership
- Competitive hourly pay aligned with experience and certifications
