DESCRIPTION

OF WORK

This role leads inspection activities for highway and bridge construction projects while ensuring adherence to safety, labor, and contract requirements. The work supports well-managed construction operations and strong communication across project teams. As a Transportation Construction Inspector Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:

  • Safety Oversight:
    Perform on site safety reviews and monitor potential hazards on construction projects
  • Labor Compliance:
    Review wage rates, classifications, and payrolls to ensure adherence to regulations
  • Contract Review:
    Evaluate plans, specifications, and contractor submissions to ensure project requirements are met
  • Inspection Supervision:
    Direct inspection activities for materials, workmanship, and construction methods
  • Documentation Tasks:
    Prepare reports, record quantities, and support work order and estimate development
  • Team Guidance:
    Assign work, review performance, and support training for inspection staff

Work Schedule and Additional Information
  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • You will work closely with vendors, and work hours may change based on vendor availability.
  • Telework:
    You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Uniontown. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
  • One year as a Transportation Construction Inspector (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Two years of construction inspection experience and an associate’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, geotechnical engineering, surveying engineering technology, or a closely related engineering technology; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Conditions of Employment
  • This position requires possession of a valid non-commercial Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
