Set Design/Painting Advisor - Dance Theater

Hempfield High School

Job Summary:

Design and paint all scenic elements for Dance Theater, working with adult staff, community volunteer builders, and student helpers in a timely and efficient manner.

Position Information & Responsibilities:

* Part-time, no benefits

* Flat Rate - $2,944

* Collaborate with Dance Theater directors and the PAC Technical Director to design preliminary drawings and a scaled model.

* Collaborate with the costume designer for any necessary prop or costume elements that need to be designed or created for the production.

* Facilitate designs and paint scenic elements with adult/student volunteers and paid staff.

* Schedule volunteers to help paint large backdrops and scenic elements.

* Facilitate all adjustments to last minute changes, set malfunctions/breaks and unique needs specific to Dance Theater.

Qualifications:

* Understanding of how to effectively design and balance three-dimensional spaces.

* Color theory as it relates to the stage and lighting.

* Experience with scaled drawings and/or model building.

* Photoshop, video editing, animation, and/or 3D modeling software skills beneficial
