Part‑Time Instrumental Ensemble Instructor (Jazz Ensemble/Concert Band)
The Division of Arts and Humanities at Penn State Abington is seeking a part‑time instructor of our instrumental ensembles beginning August 2026
. This is a one semester, non‑tenure track appointment with the possibility of reappointment. Candidates with a student‑centered, innovative, and engaging approach to teaching are encouraged to apply.
- Direct one or two instrumental ensembles per semester:
- MUSIC 82 – Concert Band
- MUSIC 84/421 – Jazz Ensemble/Jazz Combo
- Be available to teach on campus on weekday evenings, 6:00 p.m.–9:00 p.m. (MUSIC 82 meets Mondays; MUSIC 84/421 meets Wednesdays).
- Select appropriate repertoire for an on‑campus recital each semester.
- Be available for additional public/campus performance opportunities during the semester.
- Opportunities to teach private lessons in instrument(s) of expertise may be available.
- MFA preferred. MA in a relevant field required.
- Equivalent professional experience or training will be considered.
- Experience teaching at the college level is highly desirable.
