CO-OP Program Overview
The Cooperative Education (CO-OP) program combines classroom instruction with on-the-job training, and is available through any career and technical program offered lifying seniors integrate classroom learning with supervised, practical work experience. Eligible students apply for part-time employment in areas related to their chosen field of study. Students are evaluated by their employers on a monthly basis, and receive related instruction in school each week.
To qualify for the CO-OP program, students must have passing grades in all courses required for graduation, have a Student Employment Training Agreement, have good attendance, and have an acceptable discipline record. Students must have completed a minimum of one year in their career and technical program prior to applying for the CO-OP program. The Cooperative Education (CO-OP) is a partnership between the high school, local employers and students.
CO-OP is an opportunity for students to use skills learned in high school and learn new skills in the workplace. Students are required to keep a log of work activities and attend the CO-OP class. Students are evaluated monthly by employers and have a Training Plan developed in conjunction with their employer. All students will be required to take the appropriate NOCTI test at the conclusion of the program.
Media CO-OP Objective
The student will gain authentic workplace experience in digital media production, graphic design, photography, videography, marketing, and communications while developing technical skills, creativity, communication, time management, problem-solving, and professional workplace behaviors.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities- Create and edit digital content, including graphics, photographs, videos, and promotional materials.
- Assist with developing content for websites, social media, presentations, and other communication platforms.
- Photograph and record events, activities, and projects for promotional and informational purposes.
- Design flyers, posters, digital signage, and other marketing materials while following organizational branding standards.
- Edit photos and videos using appropriate digital media software and prepare files for publication or distribution.
- Organize and maintain digital files, photographs, videos, graphics, and other media assets.
- Follow copyright, privacy, confidentiality, responsible AI use, and employer technology policies.
- Demonstrate professional workplace skills by communicating effectively, meeting deadlines, accepting feedback, and completing assigned projects.
Skills and Abilities
Digital Media Software Skills Ability to use graphic design, photo editing, video editing, and presentation software. Creativity and Design Ability to develop visually appealing graphics, videos, photographs, and promotional materials. Photography and Videography Basic ability to operate cameras and capture quality photographs and video. Communication Skills Ability to communicate professionally with supervisors, coworkers, and community members. Technology Skills Ability to use computers, digital equipment, social media platforms, and emerging technologies appropriately.
Organization and Time Management Ability to manage digital files, prioritize assignments, meet deadlines, and complete projects efficiently. Attention to Detail Ability to review work for accuracy, spelling, image quality, branding, and appropriate content. Professionalism and Teamwork Ability to follow directions, accept feedback, work collaboratively, demonstrate reliability, and maintain appropriate workplace behavior.
Hourly rate: $15.00 Up to 2.5 hours daily
