The Dental Surgical Assistant will support oral and maxillofacial surgeons and facial pain physicians. This role offers chairside surgical support, sterilization, tray setup, instrument reprocessing, and patient charting. The assistant will maintain sterile technique, assist with radiographs (CBCT, peri‑apical, Panorex), and follow all compliance protocols.

• Provide chairside surgical support during oral and maxillofacial procedures and facial pain physician sessions.
• Sterilize instrumentation, prepare surgical trays, and maintain a sterile environment.
• Maintain logs for inspections/certifications per OMFS workflows.
• Reprocess/sterilize equipment and prepare tray set‑ups per protocol.
• Maintain sterile technique while assisting in surgical procedures.
• Use radiographic equipment (CBCT, peri‑apical, Panorex), take, order, and document images.
• Follow Joint Commission, OSHA, ADA, TJUH Safety, Infection Control and Quality Assurance policies.
• Maintain patient electronic medical records per OMFS charting workflows.
• Ensure patient safety following BLS guidelines and keep current BLS certification.
• Interact with co‑workers, visitors, and staff consistently with Jefferson values.

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) required.
• PA Certification in Oral Radiology required within 90 days of hire.
• Dental Assistant Diploma preferred.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience preferred; experience in an oral and maxillofacial surgery practice preferred.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and experience with medically compromised individuals.

• Primary office is Center City; this position requires travel to the Oral Surgery office at the Navy Yard (South Philadelphia).
