Seeking a Director of Neonatal Developmental Care for the newborn division to provide programmatic leadership in developmental intervention to high‑risk infants in Level III/IV UPMC NICUs. This role involves assessing the developmental needs of neonates and their families, and assisting in planning, developing, coordinating, teaching, and evaluating family‑centered, developmentally supportive care strategies. The individual will be responsible for developing and implementing education to ensure staff knowledge on advanced developmental care.
Faculty responsibilities include patient care, house staff and student education, and academic pursuits. The Director will teach pediatric hospital medicine fellows and pediatric residents, provide direct care as determined by the Chief of Pediatric Hospital Medicine, and collaborate on academic rank and career development. Key Accountabilities
Assess developmental needs of neonates and their families and assist in planning, development, coordination, teaching, and evaluation of developmentally supportive care strategies.Coordinate an appropriate physical environment for infants and families to ensure a developmentally appropriate setting for high‑risk infants, including promotion and nurturing of parent‑infant bonding.Create best‑practice, data‑driven education that guides the growth, professional practice, and competence of healthcare team members.Partner with clinical specialists and clinical educators to facilitate learning‑based education design and implementation to close knowledge gaps, and implement evaluation methods to measure and report outcomes.Coordinate the developmental framework of care delivered by the multidisciplinary team.Maintain complete and timely documentation of all assessments, evaluations, interventions, and communications in the medical record while preserving privacy.Participate and assist with the coordination of fetal‑care consults and coordinate referrals to appropriate follow‑up programs (e.g., Neonatal Follow‑Up Clinic).Qualifications
- Candidate must have completed a Neonatal‑Perinatal Fellowship program and be board‑certified in Neonatal‑Perinatal Medicine.
- Minimum of 3 years NICU developmental experience post‑fellowship.
- Must be qualified for a medical license in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
