Geisinger is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Trauma Surgeon to join our nationally recognized team at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center serving northeastern Pennsylvania. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a high-acuity, high-volume trauma program supporting a growing regional population, delivering comprehensive trauma and surgical critical care in a collaborative, physician-led environment.
Position Responsibilities- Provide comprehensive care to trauma patients across the continuum (ED, ICU, inpatient, and discharge)
- Respond to trauma activations and surgical consults
- Perform emergency general surgery procedures
- Deliver surgical critical care management for complex patients
- Participate in a shared call and coverage rotation
- Collaborate closely with Emergency Medicine, ICU teams, surgical subspecialists, and hospital staff
- Participate in clinical research initiatives
- Engage in teaching opportunities with residents and learners
- Contribute to community outreach and education, including EMS and first responder engagement, public education programs such as Stop the Bleed, participation in ATLS and critical care education programming
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Fellowship training in Trauma Surgery / Surgical Critical Care
- Eligibility for Pennsylvania medical licensure
- Licensed Medical Doctor in the State of Pennsylvania
- Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (Required)
- Commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care
- Interest in academic engagement, research, and program development preferred
- Skills:
Patient Care and Procedural Skills, Professional Etiquette, Systems-Based Practice
