We are hiring a bilingual/Spanish speaking ESL Special Education Teacher at Abraxas Academy. Are you a certified ESL Special Education Teacher in PA? We are looking for you!
Abraxas Academy is located minutes off of Exit 298 of the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Berks County and provides detention and treatment services for court-committed youth.
Responsibilities- The Special Education Teacher is responsible for providing educational services to children and adolescents in a special education full-time emotional support classroom.
- Complete Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process, including IEP development, collaboration with multidisciplinary team members, and preparation of required paperwork.
- Work collaboratively with members of the multidisciplinary team to develop/design and implement appropriate services.
- Provide appropriate guidance, leadership and direction to staff within the classroom.
- Maintain student confidentiality per agency policy, FERPA/HIPAA privacy rule regulations, and student/counselor confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate in the respective grade level, and endorsements in the respective subject area, OR
- Presentation of an original, signed letter from the Certification Officer of an accredited college or university verifying current enrollment in an approved certification program in order to be eligible for an Emergency Permit.
- Must pass both federal and state background checks which screen for crimes including, but not limited to drug-related crimes, violent crimes, sexual abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, and repeated misdemeanors.
