Early Intervention Special Education Teacher; Classroom

Overview

The job of Teacher - Special Education was established for the purpose/s of providing an appropriate individualized program in the least restrictive environment for each student to support the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing special education students' success in academics, interpersonal skills and activities of daily living; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas;

developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

• Develop appropriate individualized programs in the least restrictive environment for each student to support the instructional process.
• Supervise students within the classroom and other assigned areas.
• Develop lesson plans and deliver group and individual instruction within established curriculum guidelines.
• Collaborate with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues.
• Respond to inquiries from students’ parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

• Valid PA teaching certificate in Special Education
• Dual certification in special education and content area(s) preferred
• Ability to work effectively and regularly with a computer and computer programs
• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Possess excellent interpersonal and team building skills
• Possess strong organizational skills
• Ability to function independently
• Flexible and reliable
• Experience working with students with special needs preferred
