Overview
The Infrastructure Maintenance & Construction Services (IMCS) Operations Support Department develops the strategy and implements business processes and systems solutions collaboratively across IMCS to promote best practices in infrastructure asset management. As part of IMCS Operations Support, the Strategic Initiatives team provides robust training and organizational change management (OCM) support for IMCS Division Maintenance and Production and the Engineering disciplines (Track, C&S, ET, B&B, MoW Equipment), which is critical to facilitating adoption of the systems and processes that drive an industry‑leading asset management practice.
The Training Contractor is responsible for creating content and delivering learning experiences for diverse audiences to increase adoption of asset management tools and technologies, and asset management best practices by Division Maintenance, Production, and the Engineering disciplines. The Training Contractor partners with stakeholders and collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) to assess training and training content needs. The Training Contractor utilizes a variety of training modalities, with an emphasis on instructor‑led training, to support our agreement workforce.
SystemTraining Responsibilities
- Deliver tailored training that supports Asset Management tools and systems for IMCS Division Maintenance, Production, and the Engineering Disciplines.
- Teach all levels of the organization how to apply data analytics, GIS, and maintenance management tools to support infrastructure asset management.
- Provide training for FRA‑mandated activities such as inspections, maintenance, timekeeping, and capital construction business processes.
- Work with IMCS leaders and field personnel to identify training opportunities that enhance workforce effectiveness, ultimately increasing infrastructure asset reliability.
- Facilitate continuing education and professional development training in asset management principles.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and business partners to ensure accurate and effective training development; assess business needs and contribute to developing an appropriate training plan.
- Coordinate training delivery (maintain training scheduling, training registration, send calendar invitations, etc.).
- Maintain training attendance records.
- Monitor, evaluate, and record training activities and program effectiveness.
- Solicit and respond to feedback from training participants.
- Maintain library of training materials, identify and assist with making updates.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of asset management principles and the systems used for asset management at Amtrak and stay abreast of changes to ensure proper communication and understanding.
- Demonstrate flexibility in response to training assignments and assist fellow Business Transformation team members when needed to ensure seamless training delivery.
- Use critical thinking skills to identify, research, and recommend solutions to improve the effectiveness of training programs.
- Support our centralized HR Training team with their needs, including completion of mandatory compliance training and gap identification.
- Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- 3 years classroom and virtual facilitation experience, applying adult learning theory and techniques, preferably in a corporate environment.
- Understanding of adult learning principles.
- Proficient in MS Office Suite.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver high‑quality, impactful training in both ILT and VILT environments.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and classroom management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain complex processes and communicate effectively and credibly with all levels of management and staff.
- Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills with the ability to build and maintain positive, collaborative partnerships and interpersonal relationships with leadership, business stakeholders, SMEs and peers.
