The Graduate Assistant position requires a significant time commitment:

* January 12 - June 12, 2026:
Program preparation (~10 hours/week)

* June 23 - 29, 2026:
Academic Mentor training (~40 hours/week)

* June 30 - July 30, 2026:
Program (~40 hours/week, including weekends)

* The GA is required to live on campus and be available 24/7 during the program dates.

Position Summary Information

Job Description

Summary:

Villanova University's College of Professional Studies educates learners of all ages, including high school students and those preparing to enter college. The Pre-College Summer Academy (PCSA) gives rising high school juniors and seniors, as well as incoming college freshmen, the opportunity to experience an immersive, multifaceted introduction to college life.

The program is growing, and we are seeking a Graduate Assistant (GA) to play a key role in supporting and enhancing the Academy. This position spans research, communication, professional development, program planning, budgeting, and team management.

Requirements:

10% Communications & Customer Service:

* Serve as the primary point of contact for students and families.

* Ensure all inquiries receive a clear and timely response (within one business day).

30% Planning & Budgeting:

* Design the overall program schedule, including:

* Off-campus excursions and travel

* On-campus recreational activities

* Visits to Villanova's different colleges

* Meals

* Manage and monitor program expenses to stay within budget.

* Coordinate logistics with Villanova's Office of Conference Services (space reservations, meal scheduling, dorm assignments, etc.).

30% Team Hiring, Training, and Management:

* Lead the hiring process for Academic Mentors, including scheduling interviews, making hiring recommendations, and ensuring HR approval before summer recess.

* Collaborate with the Associate Director, Personal Enrichment and Summer Sessions, to design and deliver a weeklong Academic Mentor training.

* Manage and support the Academic Mentor team during the program, ensuring:

* Students receive appropriate support and services

* Evening check-ins are completed with 100% accuracy

* Campus leave policies are strictly enforced

20% PCAC 1000:
College Pathways:

* Work with the Director, Academic Advising and Student Support, to schedule class visits with various offices across campus.

* Serve as a resource for these individuals in their preparation and day of logistics

* Collect bios, slides to post on Blackboards

* Prepare and distribute thank you - swag bags for each presenter

* Lead Academic Mentors in curriculum planning for mentor session

* Guide them in lesson planning, providing ubiquitous content they can adapt to their student needs

* Review lesson plans as needed, offer feedback in classroom management, etc.

* In collaboration with Director, Academic Advising and Student Support, observe mentors and provide feedback

* Liaise between Academic Mentors and Director, Academic Advising and Student Support

* Regular communication regarding updates, issues, students, etc.

* Be knowledgeable of the course assignments and structure to answer common questions

10% Additional Responsibilities:

* Perform other duties as assigned by the Academic Programs team.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree required. Currently in a master's program, preferably in higher education, counseling or related field.

Additional Information:

* Candidates must be able to make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

* Strong organizational, time management, and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, as well as strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

* Proficiency in standard computer applications, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel, is required. Familiarity with Airtable is a plus.

* This individual must follow high standards of discretion and confidentiality.

* A deep commitment to the mission of the College of Professional Studies and to Villanova University's Catholic and Augustinian values is essential.
