Position Summary:

The Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Program (BSBME) at Villanova University invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track teaching faculty position, beginning Fall 2026. Candidates will be considered for an Assistant or Associate Professor rank commensurate with their education and experience. This is a nine-month academic year appointment, renewable subject to enrollment needs, availability of funding, and performance.

The BSBME Program is looking for a versatile faculty member that can contribute to and enhance the Program. The successful candidate will teach core and elective courses in biomedical engineering, with a focus on one or more of the following areas: experimental analysis and design, product design, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, numerical modelling, or physiology. The ideal candidate will be eager to help develop new course content and curriculum.

Successful candidates must be able to work collaboratively in the classroom and across project topics with faculty in the program and across the college. The appointment begins in August 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Teaching undergraduate level biomedical courses.

* Potential to teach graduate level biomedical courses (and related courses in other Engineering departments).

* Developing and delivering new core courses in biomedical engineering, aligning with the curriculum and accreditation requirements.

* Other responsibilities include mentoring and advising undergraduate students on plans of study, senior capstone or independent research projects, and professional development; and service to the program and college.

* The candidate is also expected to maintain a presence on campus and be responsive to students as a full-time member of the faculty for the duration of the appointment.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Earned PhD in Biomedical, Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, by the appointment start date.

* Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and innovation.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Current or prior experience teaching undergraduate courses in biomedical engineering or a related discipline.

* Current or prior experience developing new undergraduate engineering courses.

* Current or prior experience as an academic advisor for undergraduate engineering students.

* Evidence of research and scholarship in engineering education or pedagogical innovation.
