JOB DESCRIPTION /DUTIES:
Neumann University is currently seeking a qualified applicant for the full-time position of Admission Counselor.
Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assists in the daily activities of an effective and comprehensive undergraduate admissions program
* Represents and promotes Neumann University through travel, presentations, written correspondence, oral communication and other means as required, including the mission and values of the university to achieve the University's Strategic Plan.
* Develop and maintain a fall and spring travel schedule.
* This includes travel within the local community and overnight travel several hours distance away. Evening and weekends hours during peak travel times are required.
* Travel visits to high schools and community colleges during the day along with major fairs during the day and at night.
* As part of the fall and spring travel, counselors are expected to remain in contact with Office of Undergraduate Admission on a daily basis. Such contact includes, but is not limited to, telephone contact, return of high school visit cards, travel evaluations, and submission of travel expenses.
* Develop personal contacts with prospective students, applied students, accepted students, and enrolled/deposited students based on pre-determined goals. This effort will include evening hours.
* Increasing prospective, applied, accepted, and deposited student's numbers based on pre-determined goals. The targeted number of students is not to be attained at the expense of institutional quality.
* Responsible for understanding and accurately communicating to students the entrance requirements of the University, the academic requirements of the University or for appropriately referring student/parent questions to the appropriate University officials.
* Expected to be and remain knowledgeable about newly enrolled student financial aid information.
* Review students' credentials - including re-computation of high school grade point average - and make recommendations regarding the student's admission status within five business days of receiving a completed student file.
* Responsible for record maintenance of each student within assigned territory. This includes follow-up for collecting missing credentials, updating or correcting student data within the CRM.
* Expected to be involved in inter-departmental committees within the University and external professional organizations and activities as deemed appropriate and approved by the Director of Undergraduate Admission.
* Represent the University at on- and off-campus recruitment events during work hours, in the evenings, and on the weekends.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree required.
* Previous experience as either a student worker or professional staff member in an undergraduate recruitment/admissions is preferred.
* Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a diverse population.
* Ability to maintain and manage information and documentation accurately.
* Ability to travel extensively including overnight stays during fall and spring travel periods.
* Understanding of technology with preferred experience in Slate or comparable CRM.
* Must be goal oriented, self-motivated, and flexible.
* Must have strong interpersonal skills, be computer literate and have a valid driver's license and a personal vehicle.
* Understanding of and ability to articulate and support the mission of Neumann University.
* Candidates must possess an understanding of, appreciation for, and congruence with the Catholic Franciscan mission of the University.
