Unified Track and Field Team Head Coach

Job Summary:
Oversee the administration of the high school's Unified Track and Field team which is composed of a proportional number of students who are Special Olympics-eligible (defined as students with an intellectual disability, cognitive delay, or developmental disability) and students without intellectual disabilities.
Position Information:
* Part-time, no benefits
* 25-26
* 2 practices per week, 1 home meet, and 2 away meets with an estimated 40 hours for the season
Roles & Responsibilities :
* Liaison regularly with the school's athletic director and Special Olympics Pennsylvania to ensure quality program standards are being met.
* Develop and implement practice plans in which track and field instruction and coaching is provided to all participants.
* Impart the philosophy of a positive inclusive sports experience by following the principles of Unified Sports.
* Provide guidance and manage team strategies at Unified Track and Field competitions.
* Recruit a proportional number of students who are Special Olympics-eligible.
* Handle any paperwork or administrative duties required by the school district and/or Special Olympics Pennsylvania.
* If serving as a host site for a Unified Track and Field competition, recruit volunteers to help conduct and manage the events.
* Attend the free Unified Sports Track and Field Coaches' Training in your county. Complete the free online Special Olympics coaches' courses.
Qualifications:
* Coaching experience preferred
* Evidence of effective leadership
* Ability to articulate vision for building/enhancing the scholastic program
* Excellent communication and problem solving skills
Required Documents:
* Submission of a pre-employment medical examination
* Current PA Criminal History background check
* Current Federal Criminal background check
* Current Child Abuse background check
