This professional position follows the Collective Bargaining Agreement Salary Schedule, starting at Master's, Step 1 - $58,962 for the 25/26 SY
ScheduleMonday - Friday, 7.5 hours/day, 190 days/year
Job GoalTo build capacity within educational teams in the areas of the best instructional practices, compliance with special education regulations, and the development of quality programming. As such, the lead coach will provide both formal and informal professional development in these areas as needed. This position also serves as a liaison to district representatives seeking placements and/or services for students.
Job FocusThis position will work specifically with teachers and staff in the following CAIU programs:
Diakon Wilderness Center, CAIU Transition Programs, and the Deaf and Hard of Hearing program K-12 at East Pennsboro School District. Support may also be required in hospital programming or with Itinerant Vision and DHH services.
- Support the instructional development of all teachers in understanding the curriculum, varied assessments, and data analysis.
- Assist teachers with resources, materials, tools, information, etc. to support classroom instruction and planning, including new resources.
- Model lessons in classrooms on a daily/weekly basis.
- Assist teachers with planning and pacing of lessons, the development of differentiated lessons, and the selection of best practices to meet the needs of their students.
- Support teachers by helping them with educational and behavioral strategies by observing, modeling, and meeting during planning times.
- Informally observe, in a non-evaluative manner, lessons and provide feedback for a teacher’s professional growth and students’ success.
- Develop staff members’ knowledge, skills, attitudes, and behaviors through a variety of professional development targeted topics and designs.
- Support teachers and administrators in gathering, analyzing, and using data to improve instruction on all levels.
- Build strong relationships with teachers, administrators, and other coaches.
- Work cooperatively and effectively with colleagues, including creating and nurturing a professional community of adult learners.
- Demonstrate leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving constructive feedback.
- Demonstrate expertise in oral and written communication.
- Assume any other responsibilities as assigned by Program or Team Director or his/her designee.
