This position is for the 2026-27 school year. This is a full-time professional (teacher's contract) PASD position which will begin August 19, 2026.
This is also a new position for 2026-27, added due to student need.
Job OverviewThe successful candidate will instruct students with Autism in multi-grade levels in accordance with the goals and specifically designed instruction outlined within each student's Individualized Education Program (IEP). Responsibilities include providing small group instruction in academic and functional areas to include English/Language Arts, Math, Social Skills, Communication and Activities of Daily Living/Transition as well as providing support to students who may be included in General Education setting.
Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to developing a collaborative working relationship with staff and community agencies and monitoring and maintaining positive behavior support plans and transition plans. Applicants should have knowledge and experience with specially designed instruction, the MDE process, facilitation of IEP meetings, alternate state standards, behavioral supports, and differentiation of instruction. Supervision and instruction will be required for any full-time para educators in the classroom.
- Instructional I/II Special Education PK-8 (9226), PA Instructional I/II Special Education PK-12 (9225), PA Instructional I/II Special Education N-12 Certificate, Instructional I/II Mental and/or Physically Handicapped K-12 (9235), Instructional I/II Mentally Retarded K-12, Instructional I/II Socially and Emotionally Disturbed K-12, or Instructional I/II Emotional Disturbed K-12 certificate preferred.
- Any PA Instructional I/II certification is required.
- Experience working with high school students is preferred.
- Proficiency in online platforms (e.g. Schoology, Google Classroom) preferred.
- Must have proven adaptability, flexibility, and understanding that enrollments do change throughout the year.
