Special Education Assistant - Instructional (TEMPORARY) – Full-time, No Benefits

Tohickon Middle School

Availability

October 20, 2025 – TBD (dates are TBD). Position available ASAP.

Hours

Full-time / 10-month, 7 hours per day. Exact hours TBD.

Compensation

$18.52 per hour.
* If student toileting is required, an additional $1.25 per hour will be added to base pay.*

Description

Perform a wide variety of duties in support of student(s) individualized education programs in both special education and regular education settings as directed and supervised by a professional staff member. Must work as a team member and exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks and communicate effectively orally and in writing. Candidates must have patience and enjoy working with children. All other duties as assigned.

Utilize crisis prevention techniques/strategies (including possible restraint as a last resort) with students who require such in their IEP. Training will be provided via CBSD.

Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years of college coursework or Associate Degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma, Transcripts, or GED equivalent required at time of hire (the minimum).
  • Must work as a team member, exercise good judgment, prioritize tasks, effectively communicate with both students and adults and be a positive role model for students.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work in a school setting for extended periods, including but not limited to sitting, standing, bending, reaching, walking, talking, hearing, climbing stairs, and lifting up to 20 lbs.
  • Some assignments may require lifting more than 50 lbs. while assisting students with specific personal care needs or restraint.
