Job DescriptionSUMMARY: The ESL Teacher Aide integrates relevant teaching practices in grammar, writing, listening‑speaking, and reading in an inclusive environment that develops students’ language and cultural awareness necessary to thrive. The District ESL Aide position assists teachers in instructional and non‑instructional tasks in classrooms, reports to the assigned teacher, and is a non‑tenured position subject to annual review. The ESL Aide is responsible for the efficient performance of assigned activities.
Termsof Employment
Position Type: Part‑time 5½ hours per day, five days per week (not to exceed 30 hours per week) during the academic year.
Salary: $12 per hour.
Physical Requirements
Mostly indoors in a classroom setting, occasionally in outdoor recess or gym class. Requires bending and stooping.

- Current Act 34, 114, and 151 clearances;
Mandated Reporter training; and other district required trainings.
- High school diploma preferred or GED.
- Good communication skills; able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with staff.
- Flexible in adapting to student needs and teaching styles.
- Performs instructional and non‑instructional activities as assigned and supervised by the teacher/supervisor.
- Supervises pupils in the school and community as assigned.
- Utilizes positive behavior support strategies to effectively manage student behavior.
- Demonstrates the ability to work as part of a team.
- Displays competence and good judgment in dealing with any physical and/or medical emergency which might arise.
- Demonstrates ability to utilize technology.
- Collaborates with the teacher to assist in developing an educational program directed toward academic, communication, and social/emotional skill development.
- Adheres to federal, state, IU, district, and other applicable procedures, policies, and regulations, and participates in district‑approved in‑service training.
- Assists with classroom management: helps maintain a positive and orderly learning environment, managing student behavior and reinforcing classroom rules.
- Supports instruction: assists the teacher in delivering lessons, working with small groups or individual students, and providing additional help where needed.
- Prepares materials: helps prepare instructional materials (e.g., worksheets, presentations, classroom displays).
- Supervises students: monitors students during activities (recess, lunch, field trips) and provides supervision.
- Clerical tasks: performs administrative duties such as grading assignments, taking attendance, and organizing student records.
- Assists with special needs: provides additional support to students with special needs (IEPs, one‑on‑one assistance).
- Classroom setup: assists with setting up the classroom, arranging furniture, and organizing supplies and resources.
- Encourages student engagement: fosters a positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and engagement.
- Strong ability to provide effective and engaging ESL instruction;
