Position Details

Position: 1 Special Education Teacher, Autistic Support

School:
McKinley Elementary School

General Overview:

Developing individualized education plans, implementing behavior management strategies, and fostering social and communication skills in students with autism.

* Individualized Education Programs (IEPs):
Develop, execute, and consistently monitor specific IEP goals and objectives.

Curriculum Adaptation:
Modify general education materials and utilize evidence-based strategies to match students' learning styles.

Behavior Management:
Design and implement

Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs), tracking behavioral data to reduce challenges and reinforce positive communication.

Life Skills Instruction:
Teach essential daily living, communication, and interpersonal skills to promote student independence.

Team

Collaboration:

Guide special education paraprofessionals and collaborate with speech therapists, occupational therapists, school psychologists, and parents.

Progress Monitoring:
Collect ongoing data on student progress to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust instruction accordingly.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, PA Certification in Special Education, Autism Endorsement preferred by not required. Classroom experiences working with individuals with autism, and training in evidence-based strategies and intervention techniques
