Department of Health and Exercise Science
Position Summary
Misericordia University is seeking qualified Adjunct Faculty to teach undergraduate courses in Exercise Science on a part‑time, semester‑by‑semester basis. We welcome dedicated educators who are committed to student learning, professional excellence, and supporting our mission of providing a values‑based education in the Mercy tradition.
Responsibilities
Adjunct faculty may be assigned lecture or lab courses in areas such as:
* Exercise Physiology
* Kinesiology & Biomechanics
* Strength and Conditioning
* Anatomy & Physiology (with lab, as appropriate)
* Motor Behavior / Motor Learning
* Fitness Assessment & Exercise Prescription
* Health Promotion & Wellness
Additional responsibilities include:
* Preparing course materials, syllabi, assessments, and lab activities aligned with departmental standards
* Teaching in face‑to‑face or hybrid modalities, depending on departmental need
* Providing timely, formative, and summative feedback to students
* Maintaining accurate academic records, attendance, and grades
* Supporting an inclusive, student‑centered learning environment
* Collaborating with program faculty to ensure curricular consistency and accreditation standards
Minimum Qualifications
* Master's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a closely related field
* Demonstrated content knowledge in assigned teaching areas
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills
* Commitment to the mission and values of Misericordia University
Preferred Qualifications
* Collegiate teaching experience (lecture and/or lab)
* Relevant clinical or professional experience in exercise science, fitness, or health‑related fields
* Professional certifications (e.g., ACSM‑EP, ACSM‑CEP, NSCA‑CSCS, NASM, ACE)
* Experience with learning management systems (e.g., Blackboard) and technology‑enhanced instruction
* Experience supervising undergraduate research or applied projects
