Job SummaryThe Admissions Counselor will be responsible for representing the University to prospective students, parents, high school guidance counselors, two-year colleges, and visitors from the community by providing counseling services on university admissions. Additionally, the admissions counselor must utilize discretion and independent judgment with respect to reviewing prospective student test scores, transcripts, and other relevant admissions criteria to render applicable admissions decisions.
Admissions Counselors have the responsibility of utilizing a CRM system to select highly qualified students to support the University’s enrollment goals, which often require counselors to work non-traditional hours (evenings and weekends) during peaks in the recruitment cycle. The successful candidate will be organized, results-driven, dynamic, and able to articulate the mission, values and offerings of the university to prospective students.
Functions
- Counsel students and parents about postsecondary educational options and recruit them to LU;
- Conduct individual and group information sessions and provide occasional tours of campus;
- Represent LU at high school and college day/night programs;
- Evaluates credentials for Admissions, by administering the policies and procedures for student admissions, including evaluation of transcripts, standardized test scores, or recommendations, etc.;
Monitors application progress and audits student records to ensure the accuracy of completion of application materials. - Provides input and recommendations in determining the admissibility of "special consideration" cases;
- Acts as liaison with various constituencies including students, parents, high school and two-year school officials, faculty, academic departments and colleges, athletics, and alumni;
- Maintains communication by phone, text, email, mail and/or virtual mediums of correspondence with prospective students through all stages of the recruitment and admission process in a courteous, clear, efficient, and timely manner;
- Visit secondary schools and other educational institutions as appropriate to meet with prospective students, guidance counselors, community agencies, teachers, administrators, and related organizations;
- Assist with the planning and implementation of student specific recruitment and retention programming, including open houses, information sessions, workshops, web-based events, and other related activities; coordinating with areas in support of new student enrollment;
- Utilize enrollment software technology to meet enrollment goals for assigned target recruitment area;
- Assist with general recruitment and admissions office duties;
