This is a 7th Grade Math Teacher position at Log College Middle School for the school year. Contracted position with salary range $54,160 to $83,501 per the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM.
Under general supervision of the School Principal, facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting teaching and student progress, addressing specific educational needs, creating a flexible, safe learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.
Essential Performance Responsibilities- Develop and administer middle school curriculum aligned with district goals and objectives.
- Promote a safe classroom environment conducive to individual and small group instruction.
- Develop lesson plans and instructional materials and translate them into learning experiences to maximize instructional time.
- Teach all required subject matters assigned to the grade level, including reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music using the Board of Education course of study and other appropriate learning activities.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student learning, modify instructional methods, and provide individual small group instruction as needed.
- Instruct students in responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified by applicable laws, regulations, and procedures of Thomaston Public Schools.
- Continuously acquire professional knowledge by attending seminars, workshops, professional meetings, or conducting research.
- Maintain accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement, and attendance per district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourage parental involvement and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure student conduct aligns with school and district policies and establish standards of behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere.
- Coordinate with other middle school staff to evaluate and assess curriculum, participate in faculty meetings and committees.
- Select and requisition appropriate instructional materials and maintain inventory records.
- Supervise students during out-of-classroom activities, including school transportation.
- Administer standardized tests in accordance with district testing programs.
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Travel RequirementsTravels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, including differentiated instruction based on student learning styles.
- Knowledge of middle school curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
- Ability to use computer network systems and software applications.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Works in standard office and school building environments.

- Certification/License: PA State Certification as a Middle School Mathematics Teacher.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or the ability to provide own transportation.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in an education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Master’s degree preferred.
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
FLSA Status:
Exempt.
