What Is The Guest Teacher Program
The CLIU Guest Teacher Program is a program to help support local communities and the school districts they serve in the Carbon and Lehigh counties with substitute teacher shortages. Through the CLIU (Carbon Lehigh Intermediate Unit), the Guest Teacher Program provides quality substitute teacher training to individuals who have a bachelor's degree with little to no teaching experience. Each Guest Teacher exits the training program with the basic skills and resources to be a substitute teacher on a day-to-day basis and is issued an emergency permit by the PA Department of Education (PDE).
Guest Teachers who have completed the training program and are approved for an emergency permit can substitute teach in any participating School District and Career & Technical Institute in Carbon and Lehigh Counties.
