Coordinator, Academic Resource Center

Cairn University's Academic Resource Center is seeking qualified applicants for the full-time position of Coordinator.

Department Purpose

The Academic Resource Center (ARC) provides academic support services, including disability services, resources, education, guidance, and support of students' academic efforts, to students with such needs. The ARC is subject to certain state and federal laws requiring documentation, planning, and recordkeeping.

Position Summary

The Coordinator serves in a full-time staff position and assists the Director in communication with internal and external constituents, and in the implementation, administration, and coordination of student services provided by ARC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

General Responsibilities

* Assist and support the Director of Academic Resources.

* Coordinate and oversee Academic Resource Center programs and services.

* Research and communicate with other professionals and college/universities about improving current programs and services.

* Coordination of education support services for Students with Conditional Acceptance.

Coordination of Conditional Acceptance Program

* Plan and execute the Conditionally Accepted student Orientation.

* Plan and execute ARC end of the semester chapels for the Conditionally Accepted students.

* Review individual academic needs and create an individualized Student Success Plan with each Conditionally Accepted Student.

* Assist Conditionally Accepted Students with registration and class rostering.

* Monitor academic progress for Conditionally Accepted students, based on feedback from faculty and advisor.

* Communicate with and follow up with faculty, students, and advisors concerning student's academic progress.

* Develop periodic progress reports for the students, based on feedback from student's faculty and student's record of attendance at weekly ARC support meetings.

* Meet monthly with each student to review progress reports for the student, based on feedback from the student's faculty and students record of attendance at weekly ARC support meetings.

* Plan, schedule, and oversee weekly meetings and support services for Conditionally Accepted students.

* Review end-of-year and end-of-semester progress reports for recommendation of further Student Success Plan goals and requirements.

Coordination of Mentoring Program

* Supervise any Graduate Assistants assigned to the program.

* Recruit and train Student Success Mentors and faculty/staff mentors.

* Match mentors and mentees based on Mentor/Mentee Matching Forms.

* Research mentoring strategies and best practices.

* Record and follow up with mentors and mentees based on mentor meeting notes.

* Periodically assess mentor program based on mentor and mentee feedback.

Coordination of English Language Learners and International Students

* Assess students for level of English knowledge.

* Provide support for ELL and international students through Writing Lab and Assisted Homework Sessions.

* Connect students to English Language Partners to help them with both academic and everyday English.

Coordination of Academic Tutoring Services

* Oversee the Writing Lab by assisting and guiding the Writing Lab Student Manager.

* Oversee the recruitment, training, and scheduling of subject tutors monitor the progress of students begin tutored.

* Monitor the progress of tutees, communicate with tutors and tutees, and ensure proper documentation of the sessions.

* Plan and execute monthly meetings with tutors.

Coordination of Disability Services

* Assist Academic Resource Center Director in providing support to students with disabilities.
