POSITION GOAL:
Support the Pupil Services and Special Education departments by providing additional support to students with identified needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent the minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill, and /or ability necessary.
  • High School Degree required;
    ** Bachelor's Degree, Associate's Degree or at least 28 college credits preferred.**
    • Candidates without the preferred level of education will need to complete PA Department of Education's Credential of Competency within the first 90 days of their employment.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and a desire to work with children.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Computer literate, including a working knowledge of email use and Google Products.
  • Current certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
  • Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
  • Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 clearances.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assist with the implementation of individual and group instruction, testing and assessment procedures as directed by the cooperating special education teacher.
  • Assist the special education teacher in the care and management of students in the classroom and other areas, such as special subject areas, the lunchroom, the playground, and bus duty.
  • Assist in preparing instructional and classroom materials when requested.
  • Assist students by reading questions, passages from text, and tests following the teacher's instructions.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans(IEPs) for students and monitor their progress.
    • Assist with the collection of data relevant to students' needs and IEP goals (academic, behavioral, functional skills).
    • Maintain accurate student data and records, as well as communication with the case manager/special education teacher on the student's performance in the general education setting.
    • Assist in the educational and social development of students under the direction and guidance of the facilitator and classroom teachers.

    • ** Assist skills related to personal and social self-sufficiency, which may include but are not limited to toileting, feeding, and personal hygiene. **

    • ** Support students with emotional or behavioral concerns and assist them in developing appropriate social skills.**

    TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
  • 183 days per year; 6.5 hours per day
  • Starting at $18.00/ hour or $18.50/ hour with a Bachelor's Degree or Higher*
  • Salary and benefits according to the negotiated agreement between the Board of School Directors and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, Local 384.
