Position Description

Job Title: Lunchroom Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Job Status: Part-Time (M-F: 10:30 AM – 1:30 PM)

Reporting Functions: Reports to Dean of Students

Job Function: The Lunchroom Manager supports the mission of St. Thomas More Catholic School by providing a safe, orderly, and positive lunch and recess environment for students. The Lunchroom Manager oversees daily lunchroom operations, coordinates and supervises parent volunteers, and ensures that students are appropriately supervised during lunch periods and recess. This individual promotes respectful behavior, reinforces school expectations, and contributes to a welcoming, faith-centered school culture.

Duties

and Responsibilities Lunchroom Supervision
  • Oversee all daily lunch periods for students in grades K–8.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and orderly lunchroom environment.
  • Ensure students follow school expectations and demonstrate respectful behavior during lunch.
  • Address minor behavioral concerns and communicate significant concerns to the Dean of Students.
  • Monitor student health and safety concerns, including food allergies and emergency situations, in accordance with school policies.
  • Ensure students are dismissed to recess and classes in an orderly manner.
  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters, including social media and online platforms. Follow all St. Thomas More School and Allentown Diocese policies as per the teacher's handbook.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal
Recess Supervision
  • Supervise daily lunch recess for students in grades K–8.
  • Promote safe and inclusive play among students.
  • Enforce school rules and expectations during recess.
  • Address minor conflicts and refer ongoing or significant concerns to the Dean of Students.
  • Ensure proper student supervision and accountability throughout recess periods.
Volunteer Coordination
  • Coordinate, schedule, and manage parent volunteers assigned to lunch and recess duties.
  • Work collaboratively with the Dean of Students and SRO to provide orientation and guidance regarding school procedures, expectations, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain effective communication with volunteers and ensure adequate daily coverage.
  • Work collaboratively with the school office and Dean of Students regarding volunteer needs and scheduling.
Communication and Collaboration
  • Communicate regularly with the Dean of Students regarding student concerns, volunteer needs, and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and administration to ensure a positive and consistent student experience.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.
  • Support school-wide initiatives and special events as needed.

Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.
Other Qualifications
  • Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check (PATCH), Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and Federal Bureau of Investigation Criminal Background Fingerprint Check as required under Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's Act 153 of 2014 (No less than 1 year old.) As well as attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training.
  • Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or related setting preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise and positively interact with elementary and middle school students.
  • Ability to manage volunteers and work collaboratively with school staff.
