Salary Range: $54,160 to $83,501
Job Goal
To provide instruction based on the general education curriculum and designed to develop English language proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Essential Functions
- Conducts assessment of students at time of enrollment for eligibility in the ESL program in accordance with state requirement for screening, identification and placement. Prepares students for English language assessments required pursuant to state and federal law.
- In collaboration with others, determines the most appropriate language instruction educational program (LIEP) based on the student's English language proficiency and native language proficiency if available, using classroom data and annual WIDA scores.
- For students with individualized Education Programs, collaborates with Special Education personnel to determine program and academic placement. Complies with parental notice and placement requirements.
- Implements LIEP provisions of English language development (ELD) throughout the school day. Assists general education teachers with strategies for working with students who have LIEPs and are placed in the general education program for all or part of the school day.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and teaching strategies to meet different aptitudes and interests of students, including current technology and whole group/small-group or individual learning.

Qualifications Profile
- English as A Second Language Program Specialist Pennsylvania Certification (REQUIRED)
- English or Reading Specialist Pennsylvania Certification (PREFERRED)
Education
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education applicable to teaching assignment.
Experience
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
