Location: Abington

Responsibilities

  • Provide individual math tutoring for students.
  • Assign practice exercises as needed.
  • Mentor students in completion and review of class assignments.
  • Assist students in preparing for exams.
  • Assist students in developing greater self-directed learning strategies.
  • Create and maintain a Math-focused Canvas course shell to serve as a repository of resources.
  • Monitor scheduling and documentation through Starfish.
  • Maintain detailed records:
    Starfish Outcome Notes, Client Report Forms, Satisfaction Surveys, and other assessment measures.
  • Create and compile Math-focused instructional and marketing materials.
  • Develop and deliver workshops, presentations, and online resources for students on a range of Math topics.
  • Provide administrative support for the Chaiken Center for Student Success.
  • Serve as a liaison to academic departments and related services.
  • Perform intentional outreach and interact directly with under‑served and under‑resourced students.
  • Lead and coordinate special projects or initiatives as assigned.
  • Collaborate with professors to ensure that tutoring complements classroom instruction.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree (preferred) in Math or a related discipline, 3+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Understanding of and familiarity with effective assessment practices focusing on academic support services.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and presentation skills.
  • Innovation and creativity in program development.
  • Proven presentation, group facilitation, and teaching skills.
  • Extensive ability to collaborate and develop relationships with a wide range of constituents.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population.
  • Outstanding teamwork abilities.
  • Availability to work late afternoon/early evening and, on occasion, weekend hours.
