Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Family Consumer Science Teacher to join our team at Oxford Area High School. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting the importance of family and consumer sciences in the development of students' life skills. This full-time position involves teaching a diverse curriculum that includes nutrition, personal finance, family dynamics, and consumer education, with a focus on preparing students for real-world challenges and responsibilities.

• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with state standards and the school’s educational goals.
• Teach a variety of courses within the Family Consumer Science curriculum, including but not limited to nutrition, culinary arts, personal finance, and child development.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and collaboration.
• Assess and evaluate student performance through assignments, projects, and exams, providing constructive feedback to support their growth.
• Integrate technology and hands-on activities to enhance student learning and engagement.
• Collaborate with other faculty members to promote interdisciplinary learning and student success.
• Organize and supervise extracurricular activities, such as cooking clubs, financial literacy workshops, or community service projects.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and classroom activities.
• Stay current with developments in Family Consumer Science education and integrate best practices into the curriculum.
• Attend faculty meetings, professional development workshops, and other school-related events as required.

• Valid teaching certification in Family Consumer Science.
• Strong knowledge of Family Consumer Science concepts and curriculum.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to create a supportive and engaging learning environment for students of diverse backgrounds.
• Experience in teaching or working with high school students is preferred.
• Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance teaching and learning.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with educational trends.
