Vo-Tech Pathways Coordinator

Primary Function:
The Vo-Tech Pathways Coordinator supports Northampton Community College in developing and maintaining relationships with vocational and career and technical high schools in order to facilitate recruiting and onboarding students into Perkins grant eligible programs of study. A key component of this position is assisting high school students, teachers and parents to become aware of how to access opportunities to articulate college credit to NCC from their high school program.

Responsibilities:

  • Works directly with students at vocational high schools to screen for possible transfer in credit through Perkins articulation agreements.
  • Coordinates with Academic Affairs leadership, the PLA Office, Admissions, and Career Readiness Specialists to support prospective students through matriculation at NCC.
  • Develops working relationships with faculty in academic departments with Perkins eligible programs of study to become familiar with NCC offerings.
  • Assist in maintaining SOAR and local Perkins articulation and alignment agreements. Help identify areas of opportunities for new agreements.
  • Coordinates with Admissions, Career Readiness Specialists, and academic departments in planning or attending Career Fairs and other on-site events at vo-tech schools; attend open house and other relevant recruiting events at NCC.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within Perkin's allowable activities.

Organizational Relationships: (1) Responsible to the Assistant Dean, Prior Learning Assessment for performance of assigned duties; (2) Works closely and collaboratively with Academic Grants Coordinator, Admissions, Records, and Advising; (3) Relate role to College goals and mission attainment.

Performance Standards:
Performance in this position is considered satisfactory when: (1) mutually agreed upon objectives have been attained within a specified time frame; (2) responsibilities of the position have been carried out at a level consistent with performance objectives; (3) effective cooperative relationships exist with other members of the administrative team, faculty, students, employers and other members of the community.

Qualifications:

Required:

(a)

Education:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate discipline from an institution of higher education recognized by an institutional accreditor approved by the U.S. Department of Education or equivalent knowledge and skills in the area of student advising and career and technical education; (2) Skills, Knowledge, Abilities: (a) Knowledge vocational-technical high school education and the higher education environments; (b) ability to function effectively as a member of an administrative team;

(c) ability to organize and work effectively with large and small groups; (d) ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and administrators; (e) ability to adapt to differences and changes in program, colleagues, students, and community characteristics, (f) excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational and presentation skills; (g) ability to work with and relate to community constituencies; (h) demonstrated proficiency in the use of technology;

(i) ability to work with diverse populations. (3)

Experience:

(a) two to five years' experience in higher education or career and technical high school; (b) demonstrated competency to serve in an administrative capacity

Note:

1) Funding for this position is derived in full through a Perkins grant. Time and effort reporting is required.

2) Primary work location is Bethlehem, PA. Periodic travel to the Pocono campus and nearby vo-tech partner schools may be required (approximately a few times per month).
