Cairn University invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Security Officer within the Office of Safety and Security (OSS). This position is scheduled to work 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The ideal candidate will be flexible and available to work additional shifts or hours as needed to provide coverage for other security staff. Security Officers are also expected to support major University events, including Homecoming Weekend and Commencement ceremonies.

Position Responsibilities

Under regular supervision and in accordance with established training, policies, and procedures, the Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure campus environment by protecting life and property and enforcing University policies and regulations.

Primary responsibilities include:

• Conducting routine patrols of campus, primarily on foot and occasionally by patrol vehicle, following appropriate training and departmental procedures.
• Responding to incidents and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
• Enforcing University safety and security measures while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
• Providing courteous, helpful, and professional customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
• Supporting the University's commitment to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and secure community for all members of campus.

Required:

• Uphold laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
• If offered the position, successfully complete the PA and FBI Criminal background and

Child Abuse History clearances.

• Driver's License with clean driving record and licensed to drive for at least 2 years.

Preferred:

• Prior security experience.
• Current PA ACT 235 certification.

Current Cairn University students are not eligible for consideration but may apply for student worker positions in the Office of Safety and Security.
