Position

Description

The successful candidate will teach primarily in the on‑campus BSW program and, as needed, in the fully online MSW program in the Social Work Department. The position will include teaching social work courses in areas such as HBSE, policy, research, and practice, with an opportunity to develop and teach elective social work courses in an area of expertise. The BSW program is offered at our St.

David’s campus.

Position Responsibilities
  • Teach courses assigned in a 30‑credit load.
  • Assist in the development of course curriculum.
  • Assist with coordinating placements within the internship program.
  • Advise BSW students.
  • Participate in the admissions and interview process for future students.
  • Help develop the academic, social and spiritual dimensions of students.
  • Pursue a scholarly agenda of inquiry, presentation, and publication.
  • Uphold the vision of the Social Work Department.
  • Supports the continuous development of the Social Work Department.
  • Honor the NASW Code of Ethics.
  • Maintain compliance with CSWE accreditation standards.
  • Qualifications
  • MSW from a CSWE accredited program.
  • Minimum of two years of post‑MSW practice experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of the CSWE competencies.
  • Commitment to and record of excellence in teaching.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Record of effective, collaborative engagement and teamwork.
  • Embodiment of the values of caring and compassion, justice and integrity, competence and affirmation.
  • Commitment to treat each member of the campus community with fairness, dignity and respect, seeking a spirit of unity and harmony as we join together to achieve our common mission.
  • Theological alignment with the doctrinal statement of the university; sincere and enthusiastic affirmation of the University’s mission, vision and core values; and a commitment to integrating Christian faith into teaching and professional work.
  • Supplemental Information

    The Social Work Department has five full‑time faculty. The BSW program has been accredited by CSWE since 1974 and the MSW program is also fully accredited by CSWE. The Social Work Department at Eastern University educates and prepares students to be competent advanced generalist (MSW) social work practitioners who are knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate representatives of God’s mercy and justice in meeting common human needs with particular attention to vulnerable and oppressed populations and communities.
