Job Title: Music Teacher

Reporting Functions: Reports to Principal
Job Function: Provides daily instruction and selects age-appropriate activities in the music curriculum. Evaluates and records information on each child's developmental progress and provides feedback to parents.
NOTE:

- Provide daily instruction and select learning activities appropriate to students' needs based on the music curriculum set by the Allentown Diocese.
- Create lesson plans suitable for the age and abilities of students in the class, teaching understanding of music and use of musical instruments.
- Develop an environment that promotes learning and social interaction.
- Act as a positive role model for the children.
- Organize and direct the school chorus, preparing them for Christmas concerts and talent shows.
- Post grades and send grade reports to parents as required by the school system.
- Keep informed of current educational practices through professional reading and educational opportunities; remain current with both religious and academic standards.
- Establish and maintain appropriate student supervision to create a safe, orderly, effective, and productive environment following St. Joseph the Worker's discipline procedures.
- Supervise students in hallways before, after, and between classes, in the library, cafeteria, bus areas, and at special events to ensure safety and security.
- Maintain knowledge of emergency evacuation routes, school procedures, and regulations for assigned classrooms.
- Attend school preparation days, in-service and staff development opportunities, diocesan educational workshops, faculty meetings, open houses, and other school-related activities upon the principal's request.
- Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding school/workplace matters, including social media and online platforms, following Allentown Diocese policies.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the principal.

Educational Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Music or Music Education preferred.
- PA Teacher certification preferred.
- Ability to play the piano preferred.
- Previous teaching experience.
- Effective communication with parents, students, and co-workers in a positive and enthusiastic manner.
- Understanding of child development and skills to relate to students.
- Knowledge of employee supervision and adult communication skills for a collegial and efficient environment.
- Ability to handle classroom situations with fairness and patience.
- High level of energy and calmness in challenging situations.
- High confidentiality, credibility, integrity, and self-confidence essential.
Clear records of Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse History, and FBI Criminal Background Fingerprint Check are required (no less than 1 year old). Attendance at the online Protecting God's Children class and Mandated Reporter Training is also required.
Physical DemandsRegular sitting, walking, standing, talking or hearing, operating standard office equipment, occasional reaching and lifting up to 10 pounds. Vocal communication required for singing and speaking; hearing and visual acuity for general surroundings and written or computer data.
Working ConditionsNormal elementary school environment. Working hours are 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM; occasional work outside normal hours may be required for meetings and events.
